Hobby Airport remains the first and only 5-Star Skytrax-rated airport in North America for a third consecutive year. As construction of a new international terminal moves forward at Bush, the airport has maintained its level of world-class service to hold on to a 4-Star Skytrax rating for seven consecutive years.

The busy travel day on June 6  is an early indication of a record-setting summer. Houston Airports anticipates that 19 million people will travel through Bush or Hobby airports between Memorial Day and Labor Day. 

The airport, which opened in June 1969 as man was preparing to land on the moon, has helped to expand Houston’s global reach and has supported the City’s growth.

Houston Airports expects more than 19 million people to travel through Bush and Hobby airports this summer.

“Safety is our core value at Houston Airports,” said Jim Szczesniak, Director of Aviation for Houston Airports.

The addition to the existing Terminal D is set to open this summer. Houston Airports employees are touring the expansion to get familiar with gates, restrooms and concession space so they can continue to deliver world-class service. 

Houston Airport Custodians worked overnight to  deep clean USO at Bush Airport ahead of Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Skyway's journey began in 1999 with a single shuttle serving Terminals B and C. In 2023, the Skyway facilitated an impressive average of nearly 700,000 passenger trips, highlighting its vital role in keeping IAH passengers moving.

With more than 60 new flights added to the summer schedule, Houston Airports is ready to welcome 1.3 million Memorial Day holiday travelers.

Employees who work overnight shifts consistently show up, keep Houston's airports operational and ensure the safety and well-being of airport guests. National Third Shift Workers Day was founded to recognize the crucial role.
