Viva Aerobus expands service at Bush Airport

HOUSTON——Viva, Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier, is expanding nonstop service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) in Mexico City.

Beginning November 20, the direct route will operate three times a week—every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The flight will depart from NLU at 5:55 p.m. and arrive at IAH at 8:10 p.m. The return flight will depart IAH at 9:20 p.m. and arrive at NLU at 11:45 p.m.

In 2024, 5.1 million people flew between Houston and Mexico—we look forward to welcoming even more,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “This new nonstop to Felipe Ángeles International Airport strengthens our position as a primary gateway to Latin America, especially as we prepare to welcome soccer fans in 2026. It also fuels Houston’s economic momentum, boosting trade, tourism and opportunity on both sides of the border.”

This route further strengthens Viva’s expansion into the U.S. and Texas. The Mexican airline already offers regular flights from Houston (IAH) to León (BJX), Guadalajara (GDL), Mexico City (AICM), Monterrey (MTY) and Querétaro (QRO).

Passengers traveling from Houston to Mexico City will be able to connect to more than 30 domestic or international destinations operated by Viva, which is the main operator at NLU.
